Summit EMTs Are Union County Students of the Year

Two Summit EMTs selected by Union County College.

June is graduation season, a time to congratulate our freinds and family who complete milestones in their education. This year, the has reason to join that celebration as 2 of our volunteers Stephen Brown and John Buscaino recently completed the Emergency Medical Technician training program at Union County College and were awarded Student of the Year honors for their work in class.  According to Laurie Sheldon the EMT Program Director, Stephen and John were selected as the “students who best exemplified the attitude, knowledge and skills an EMT should have”.

Stephen is a member of the Tuesday day crew. John volunteers on the Friday Night crew, where coincidentally, Stephen's wife Beverly is the Crew Chief.  Squad Captain Kari Phair, was pleased to congratulate both men on their achievement:  “The First Aid Squad has been so successful for 50 years primarily due to our dedicated volunteers like Stephen and John”.

I couldn't agree more.  In my 28 years on the Squad, I've always felt that people are our most valuable asset. For nearly 50 years, Summit has been blessed with enough community minded neighbors willing to volunteer their time and skills to make ours one of the best EMS agencies in the state.
