Overlook 5K Run Culminates Busy Day for Summit Squad
On Tuesday, the Summit Volunteer First Aid Squad responded to 12 emergency calls, ending the daylight hours at the Overlook 5K run at the Village Green.
After responding all day to emergency situations in town, the Squad staffed three duty ambulances and an Emergency Response Vehicle at the Overlook run to ensure medical assistance was available to runners as needed. During the run an additional ambulance responded to a 911 call in Springfield, and toward the end of the race a runner was provided medical treatment.
“Between the running event and emergency calls, at one point we had all five emergency vehicles out,” claimed Mel Harari, Squad Records Lieutenant.
Many squad members volunteered to provide medical assistance at the Overlook run, additionally providing runners with water and Gatorade at the finish line. The Squad can be seen at many public events in town ensuring emergency medical services are readily available.
