Nor'easter to Hit NJ With Heavy Rain, Wind, Some Snow

Storm is expected to start as wintry mix in northern areas before changing to all rain Tuesday night.

Wet, windy and wintry conditions are headed to New Jersey over the next two days and are expected to wreak havoc with Thanksgiving holiday travel.

Heavy rains and gusty winds up to 35 miles per hour, along with some snow and ice, are expected to start sweeping through the region Tuesday afternoon.

According to the National Weather Service, the nor'easter will produce 2 to 4 inches of rain, but over a 12- to 18-hour period, reducing the risk of river flooding.

The storm is expected to start Tuesday afternoon as snow and ice in the northern areas of the state, including Morris and Somerset counties, before changing over to all rain for the entire region by the evening hours. Less than 2 inches of snow and ice are expected.

The timing of the storm will impact Thanksgiving holiday travel with conditions deteriorating Tuesday afternoon and lasting into Wednesday before improving, the NWS said.

Skies are expected to clear for Thanksgiving with highs reaching only the low- to mid-30s on Thursday.
