Preserve County Parks This Fall, Freeholders Say

Ordinances are set in place to preserve the natural resources of the county's 36 parks.

As residents emerge from their air conditioning to enjoy the fall season outdoors, the board of chosen freeholders is asking that they help preserve the natural habitats of the 36 parks in Union County.

“In this densely developed region, the Union County park system is barely short of a miracle,” said Freeholder Chairman Linda Carter in a release. “Generations of Union County residents have worked to build and preserve this unique natural resource and now it’s up to us to do our part, too.”

Several ordinances have been set in place to help maintain the 6,700 acres of the county park system, including:

  • Disposing of trash in provided receptacles
  • Staying on marked trails
  • Picking up after dogs
  • Keeping dogs on a leash
  • Refraining from feeding Canadian geese
