A 1-Year-Old Chesapeake Bay Retriever Needs A Home

Find the cat or dog—or both—of your dreams of at St. Hubert's Animal Welfare Center.

If you're looking to adopt a dog or cat, St. Hubert's Animal Welfare Center of Madison is the place to start. The nationally-recognized shelter handles more than 4,000 adoptions each year. All animals are vaccinated, neutered and bathed prior to being placed, following a careful matching process designed to foster a relationship that's beneficial for animal and adopter, and one that will endure for the lifetime of the dog or cat. For more information, call 973-377-2295 or click on http://www.sthuberts.org.

Here are just a few of the shelter residents available for adoption:

  • Yanni: This three-month old white, black and brown tabby cat was found as a stray in Morris Plains. Yanni may be a bit shy when you first approach her but she likes being held against your heart. As most kittens are, Yanni is curious, playful and ready for a chance at a home where people will keep her safe and warm.
  • Ed Winslow: Ed is a 2-year-old Rottweiler/Bernese Mountain Dog mix. Ed has learned some basic obedience commands, and is very good at "come," "sit," "down," and "stay." Ed has the personality that is typical of a Rottweiler, which means he needs to be adopted by a person who has had some experience with dogs who will take charge if no one else does.
  • Edith: Edith is a very special dog. This adult pit bull/terrier mix is deaf but can be trained using hand signals. She is happy, friendly and affectionate, and she will be fine with the right home environment.
  • Bubbles: This domestic short hair is already neutered, up-to-date on his shots and house-trained!
  • J.P.: J.P. is a one-year-old Chesapeake Bay Retriever who used to live with a nice family, but needed hip surgery that they could not afford. St. Hubert's will be finding a vet to perform J.P.'s surgery soon. He enjoys tennis and snuggling.
