9/11 Observed, Renaissance Church Hosts Fun-filled Food Drive This Week

Summit High School football kicks off the season Thursday in Somerville.

Here's a look at events happening this week in Summit and some of the stories we'll be following:

A 9/11 observance will be held at 9:55 a.m. Wednesday at the Summit Fire Department. Those who wish to attend can gather at the Memorial Bell to honor all those who perished on 9/11.

Summit's Greenmarket pulls up stakes for the season Thursday. Stop by the Beechwood Road market between 2 and 7 p.m. for a final chance to pick up some organic produce.

The Hilltoppers kick off footbal season at 7 p.m. Thursday in Somerville. Head coach Kevin Kostibos said he and the team are very excited for the new season, which he anticipates being a "very competitive" one as the Hilltoppers defend their state championship title. 

Renaissance Church will host its first annual Concert on the Green and Food Drive to benefit Summit schools at 7 p.m. Friday in the park across from the train station.
