Community Center Proposal, Free College Workshop Offered This Week

The Summit First Aid Squad hosts a free CPR class Thursday evening.

The Summit Common Council will hear a presentation regarding the proposed renovation of the Summit Community Center at its regular meeting starting at 7:30 p.m. Monday at City Hall. 

A free college planning workshop will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday at Temple Sinai. Click here for more information. 

Summit Helping Its People (SHIP) is holding its annual fundraiser on Wednesday, November 20th in the Parish Hall of St. Teresa's Church, 306 Morris Avenue, Summit, NJ. Tickets cost $50 and all proceeds from the fundraiser will go directly to SHIP. There will be both a silent auction and a live auction. Friends of the Summit Free Public Library Membership Meeting will be held at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the library. New members are welcome. 

On Thursday, from 10 to 11:30 a.m., crowdfunding will be the discussion topic for the November 2013 meeting of the Summit/New Providence chapter of B.I.G., with speaker Patty Lennon, crowdfunding expert who financed the successful “Mom Gets A Business” conference in just two weeks. The Summit Volunteer First Aid Squad will host a free CPR class on Thursday from 6:00 PM to 9:30 PM.  Successful students will receive a “CPR for Healthcare Providers” certificate from the American Heart Association. The First Aid Squad building is located on Summit Ave. across from the Lawton C. Johnson Middle School.

Brayton Holiday Boutique will start at 6 p.m. Thursday. Brayton Elementary School is bringing together 25 local vendors offering an incredible cornucopia of finely made, handcrafted gift items.

The Summit High School football team takes on Cranford at 1 p.m. Saturday at Tatlock Field in the State semifinal following Saturday's win over Gov. Livingston.
