Updated: Special Board of Education Meeting, Greenmarket This Week

Here's a look at the week ahead in Summit.

Update: The Summit Board of Education will hold a special meeting on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. at the Wilson School Board Meeting Room. A vote on the new boys basketball coach is expected.

The Discover Summit Arts Festival began on Sunday and will continue through this Saturday, featuring 40 events all across the city. Read our article to learn about the festival details. Remember to check Summit Patch throughout the week for our coverage of this celebration.

Overlook Medical Center will host a 5K race on Tuesday at 7 p.m. to benefit the Summit Police Athletic League (PAL) and Atlantic Neuroscience Institute Brain Aneurysm Fund. The race begins at Village Green at the corner of Summit Avenue and Broad Street. To register, go to overlook5k.com. Registration will also be available at 5:30 p.m. on race day. The first-ever Summer Greenmarket opens this Thursday, June 27 and will feature 13 farmers and purveyors. Located on Beechwood Road between Bank Street and Springfield Avenue, the market will be open from 3 to 8 p.m. each Thursday through Sept. 12, except for July 4. Summit's Super Sidewalk Sale will kick off this Thursday, and feature bargains and fall previews at numerous downtown businesses from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The sale will continue through Friday and Saturday. Check back with us on Wednesday for more sale details.
