High-End Car Thieves Swipe Maserati, BMW from Summit Parking Lot

Police said two vehicles were stolen from the valet parking lot of a Morris Avenue restaurant on May 10.

Some thieves in the Summit area apparently have discriminating taste. Several patrons at a Morris Avenue restaurant enjoyed a leisurely dinner recently, only to pay their bill and discover their luxury cars - a 2007 black Maserati and a silver 2012 BMW - were stolen from the parking lot. Summit police reported that the twin vehicle theft happened at approximately 11:30 pm on Friday, May 10. The name of the restaurant was not disclosed, but it was an establishment that provides valet parking. The police report said that the keys to vehicles were missing from the valet key safe, so the thieves apparently didn't hotwire the vehicles, but drove off in style. Police are still searching for the car thieves. Anyone with any information is urged …

Fans of 'Kai the Hitchhiker' Want to Raise $3M in Bail Money

One man is hoping fans will open their wallets to fund the defense of an Internet celeb accused in the murder of Clark resident Joseph Galfy.

Will fans of 'Kai the Hatchet-Wielding Hitcher' stand by him now that the Internet celeb has been arrested for the murder of Clark's Joseph Galfy? At least one fan is, and he's asking other supporters of Kai (whose real name is Caleb Lawrence McGillvary) to open their wallets to fund his $3 million bail and the cost of his legal defense. Police say that McGillvary murdered Galfy, who was found in his underwear and socks, severely beaten. McGillvary was arrested in Philadelphia on Thursday night. For his part, in a Tuesday post on his Facebook page, McGillvary alleges that he was drugged and raped, and asks readers, "…

Help the Summit Fire Department Pick a Name For It's New TV Show!

The SFD will soon have a new television show on HomeTowne TV and they need your help to select a name for the program.

What's in a name? A new television show starring members of the Summit Fire Department. Beginning next week, the Fire Department will have it's own show on HomeTowne Television, the cable network that broadcasts on Comcast Channel 36 and Verizon Fios Channel 33. The station already features a program called "Off the Cuff" that's hosted by the Summit Police Department. And now, the Fire Department will get into the act as well with a program that will not only highlight members of the department, but some of the department's services and initiatives as well. The show will involve Batallion Chief Donald Nelson as well as various guests. But no good TV show would be complete without a name...and that's where the public comes in. The Fire …

I do feel pity for the deceased. The ignorant, homophobic rhetoric does keep emerging when these things happen. Kai appears to be a charming sociopath and I've seen them before. Anyone who can't see it should search: "sociopathology, borderline personality disorder". It's not a long way from there to unconscionable violence, and the perp as victim is a common portrayal after the fact.   more ›
