Shaping Summit Together
P.O. Box 307, Summit, NJ 07901
A grassroots organization started in 1995, Shaping Summit Together is a not-for-profit group that strives to have SummitMore work together as a community to shape the city's future. The volunteer group was created to implement a strategic plan, sponsored by the City of Summit and Overlook Hospital, that would address the critical issues of Summit's future, including its character, values, service and social and cultural literacy. In 2008, it merged with the Summit Municipal Alliance to Prevent and End Substance Abuse and has taken on that cause, too.
Summit Downtown

Summit Downtown is a non-profit corporation which represents all retailers and businesses in the SpecialMore Improvement District.  The purpose of SDI is to encourage the development and improvement of the quality of life in the business community in the downtown.  It is governed by a 21 member Board of Trustees that is comprised of downtown retailers, downtown property owners, community residents, members of the Common Council, the Mayor and the City Administrator.

The tax revenues are dedicated to benefit the downtown and the City of Summit.  We promote the downtown and its retail/business community through print and online advertising throughout the year and events such as Annual Restaurant Week, Girl's Night Out, Summit Farmers Market, Antique/Classic Car Show, Street Fair & Craft Show, Trick or Treat at Halloween, and December Holiday Events.  We also partner with other non-profits such as the Summit Historical Society, Suburban Chambers of Commerce, Reeves-Reed Arboretum, Shaping Summit Together, etc.

The Board of Trustees meets the last Wednesday of each Month (except December), 8 a.m. City Hall.
