Menendez, Kyrillos Pledge Support For Israel

The two candidates for New Jersey's Senate seat discussed multiple topics at a forum sponsored by Greater MetroWest New Jersey, held in Livingston Monday night.

Tackling issues from Obamacare to gun control – U.S. Sen. Robert Menendez (D-New Jersey) and his challenger, State Sen. Joe Kyrillos (R-Dist. 13) squared off in a forum on Monday night at Temple Beth Shalom in Livingston. The competitors took part in an hourlong question-and-answer session sponsored by the Community Relations Committee of Greater MetroWest New Jersey. Both candidates pledged support for Israel and the relationship between the country and the United States. "Since I was elected to the Senate, I believe Israel has had no greater friend in the United States Senate than I have been, no greater ally, no greater defender of the people of Israel against all threats and against anti-Semitism,” said Menendez. Christie: Israel, U.S. Share Values of Freedom

Governor speaks in Bridgewater about his week spent in Israel and Jordan.

Gov. Chris Christie spoke before religious leaders at the Shimon and Sara Birnbaum Jewish Community Center in Bridgewater on Wednesday to relay information about his “extraordinary week” visiting Israel. Aside from some time spent sightseeing with his wife and children last week, Christie also met with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and President Shimon Peres, he told invited religious leaders. Within an unassuming synagogue in Summit works a peace activist, a leader and a trail blazer.  Rabbi Amy Small, one in an ever-expanding minority of female rabbis, leads the Reconstructionist congregation at Beth Hatikvah. She balances her many duties as rabbi–which include teaching, working in consultation, helping to prepare families for big events, pastoral care, networking, and problem-solving–with her duties as peace activist and mother of three college students.  She serves on boards in the community and was president of the Reconstructionist Rabbinical Association from 2003 to 2005, when she was asked to join yet another peacemaking organization that called itself the National Interreligious Leadership Initiative for Peace in the …
