Sebastian Wins Every Individual Race of 2013 Summit Swim Season

Ryan Sebastian, Summit Patch's Athlete of the Week, won first in the 100 Fly and 100 Breast at the state championship, helping the Boys' Varsity Swim Team achieve victory.

Swimmer Ryan Sebastian has never lost an individual race during the 2013 season, including his first place wins in the 100 Fly and 100 Breast, which helped the Summit Boys' Varsity Swim Team win the State Title for the first time in Summit High School history on Feb. 23. The team defeated Moorestown 88-82 at The College of New Jersey. Coach Luke Piede said in a previous Patch article, “It was an extremely competitive meet.” Although it was never Sebastian’s goal to be undefeated, once Piede pointed it out halfway through the season, Sebastian thought it would be a good goal not to lose any races. Coach Piede Is All Smiles After Summit Swim Team Clinches State Title

On the heels of a thrilling 87-83 victory over Princeton in the State Semifinals and winning 9 out of 11 events at the County Final, the No. 7 Hilltoppers clinched its first state title in Summit High School history over No. 5 Moorestown on Feb. 23 at The College of New Jersey. Led by first-year head coach Luke Piede, the Hilltoppers defeated No. 5 Moorestown 88-82 on Feb. 23 at The College of New Jersey after taking second place in the 400 freestyle relay, the final event of the meet. Michael Phelps Congratulates Summit Swim Team For Winning State Title

After the Summit Boys' Swim Team took home their first State Title in school history on Saturday, a swimmer and his father ran into the most decorated Olympian of all time.

For the first time in school history, the Summit Boys’ Swim Team clinched the State Championship over Moorestown, 88-82, on Saturday morning at The College of New Jersey. In the days that followed, freshman swimmer Matt Samay and his father, Scott, ran into an Olympian swimmer we all know very well — Michael Phelps. In this video, Phelps sends his congratulations to the Hilltoppers on winning their State Title. "Michael was very gracious and happy to congratulate the boys. Summit Boys' Swim Team Clinches First State Title in School History

The Summit Boys’ Swim Team clinched its first state title in school history over Moorestown this morning, 88-82, at The College of New Jersey. Ryan Sebastian won the 100 fly and 100 breast, while Luca Guadagno won the 200 free, said Head Coach Luke Piede. Kevin fries won the 50 free and Tim Kostolansky won the 500 free.   "It was an extremely competitive meet," Piede said. "Depth played a key roll in the victory." Summit Swim Team Competes In State Championship Today At TCNJ

For the first time in school history, the No. 7 Hilltoppers will compete for a state title this morning against No. 5 Moorestown. The Public B State Final begins at 10:30 a.m.
