County Official looks forward in letter to the editor.
This has been an extraordinary time in Union County history, and we’ve seen some extraordinary things. We’ve seen the worst of the damage and destruction that a powerful storm can bring, first with Hurricane Sandy and then with the nor’easter Athena. We’ve also seen the best of human nature, as Union County residents pulled together to keep each other safe at the height of the danger. We’re not out of the woods yet. Tragically, two deaths in Union County have been attributed to the storm, and people are still …

You have some time off, but don't want to jump on a plane or pack the car. So what do you do when you're looking for fun close to home?
Everyone loves vacation, but not everyone has the time — or the cash — to take a week off and head for some far-flung location. So when you have the chance to stick close to home, what do you do to have some fun without having to fill up the tank? Some families check into a local hotel for a room-service "staycation" full of in-room movies and a lot of time in the pool. Other folks like to spend the morning puttering around the house and taking care of all the little jobs that have been piling up and then spend the afternoon going to an amusement park, a nature preserve or a bowling alley before heading off for dinner and a movie. Or maybe you're in the mood to ditch the kids and go for a little pampering, so you head out for a day of spa …
