Summit Police Announce Recent Promotions

Det. Matthew Buntin was promoted to the rank of Sergeant within the Department's Patrol Bureau while PO Ryan Stanek advanced to the position of Detective within the Juvenile Unit.

The following was provided by the Summit Police Department: 

The Summit Police Department recently announced the promotion of Det. Matthew Buntin to the rank of Sergeant within the Department’s Patrol Bureau and the appointment of PO Ryan Stanek to the position of Detective within the Juvenile Unit.   

Sgt. Buntin joined the Department in 2003 and since then has served in the Patrol Bureau, the Traffic and Special Services Bureau and most recently as Juvenile Detective within the Detective Bureau.  In addition, he has taught the DARE program in Summit’s schools for many years.

Det. Stanek began his career with the Department in 2006 and has served in the Patrol Bureau and the Community Policing Unit.  He will take Sgt. Buntin’s place as the Department’s Juvenile Detective and is also qualified to teach the DARE program.

Chief Weck congratulated both men on their new assignments and especially Sgt. Buntin on his promotion.  He noted, “the promotional process for the rank of sergeant is a long, stressful, time consuming commitment, and Matt competed against many talented and dedicated officers for this position.  It is a great accomplishment.”
