'It's Time for Fresh New Voices on Summit's City Council,' Resident Says

"Electing Sandra Lizza to Council as the Ward 2 representative is the best choice for Summit and all of us who live here," Romaney Berson writes.

I am a registered Democrat.  Three days ago I received in my mailbox a flyer “Proudly Paid for by the Committee to Elect Mike Vernotico” that was little more than a personal attack on Sandra Lizza, the Republican candidate for Summit Council, Ward 2. As a Summit resident and taxpayer, I find this repugnant.  It is sad and pathetic that Mr. Vernotico, or anyone running for public office to serve the residents of Summit would resort to such tactics.

I enthusiastically endorse Sandra Lizza for Summit Council Ward 2.

I believe it is time for fresh new voices on Summit’s City Council, for people who are willing to give of themselves to make Summit the best it can be, and who are willing to hold themselves and all of Summit government accountable to the people who live here. Electing Sandra Lizza to Council as the Ward 2 representative is the best choice for Summit and all of us who live here.

I have known Sandra for 12 years and appreciate all the positive attributes that make her the best choice for Council.  These include:

  • Her extensive corporate career that allows her to bring to Council strong skills in finance, planning and process management. Sandra understands that Council and the numerous city committees need to have long term goals, appropriate budgets, accountability for their actions and money management, and the ability to know how to adjust when circumstances warrant it;
  • Her long-time commitment to civic involvement and a willingness to speak out on matters she believes are important to the citizens of Summit;
  • Her sincerity in wanting to know what Summit citizens think are critical issues, what their problems are, and what suggestions they have;
  • Her ability to work well with others in a collaborative, civil and professional manner and to thereby offer creative solutions to problems.

Finally, Sandra is running solely because she cares about Summit and the people who live here.  It is not about her; it is about giving back to the City she loves and has lived in for 18 years.
