U.S. Senate Primary, Movie Screening This Week

Plus, the city's 'Greatest Float Night Ever Again' will take place Thursday evening, while the Greenmarket will be open Thursday afternoon.

The U.S. Senate Primary Election is this Tuesday, which will determine who will run in the special Oct. 16 election. This election is being held to fill the seat of Democratic Sen. Frank Lautenberg.

The Republican Candidates are Alieta Eck and Steve Lonegan. The Democratic candidates are Cory Booker, Rush Holt, Sheila Oliver and Frank Pallone. “Screen on the Green” has been postponed from Thursday, Aug. 8 to Monday, Aug. 12. “Somewhere in Time” will be screened on the Village Green in Summit. This is a romantic, adults-only film with Christopher Reeve. There will be a photo booth with Victorian costumes to put on to take pictures, and a dance party. The festivities begin at 8 p.m. For more information, click here.

Summit's "Greatest Float Night Ever Again" will take place in the Family Aquatic Center, located at 100 Ashwood Ave., on Thursday. The event will take place from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., and the rain date is scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 22.

Summit’s Summer Greenmarket will be open this Thursday from 3 to 8 p.m. on Beechwood Road between Bank Street and Springfield Avenue. This market, which features 13 farmers and purveyors and will be open through Sept. 12, opened last Thursday with a ribbon cutting ceremony.

Summit's Municipal Court will convene this Thursday in City Hall, located at 512 Springfield Ave. The court will be in session from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Public Defender on the 3rd Wednesday of each month, except Aug. 28 and Nov. 27, 2013.
